Weekly habit tracker printable

A weekly habit tracker is a one-page sheet with seven day columns, one row per habit and a space to review the week. Because the week is short, you can correct course quickly. This printable fills in the dates for any week you choose and prints several weeks in a stack.

The print dialog opens in your browser. Choose Save as PDF if you prefer a file.

Plan on Sunday, review on Sunday.

Why track by the week instead of the month?

A week is short enough to remember and long enough to include a normal mix of busy and quiet days. If a habit slips on Tuesday, you still have five days to fix it, whereas a monthly sheet shows the damage once the month is almost over.

The weekly layout also suits habits that are not daily by nature. Strength training three times a week or a long phone call to family on Sundays fit a seven-column week far better than a thirty-one-column month.

A five-minute weekly rhythm

  1. Sunday evening: choose the targets. Write next to each habit how many days you aim for this week, for example four of seven. A target below seven makes room for real life and removes the all-or-nothing trap.
  2. Place the habits in the week. Look at the calendar and pencil a small circle on the days each habit will happen. Planned days on a busy Thursday are the ones that fail, so move them early.
  3. Fill the box each day. Mark the box when the habit is done. Leave planned but skipped days empty; do not rub out the circle.
  4. Next Sunday: compare plan and result. Count circles against marks in the review box. Write one sentence on what helped and one on what blocked you, then plan the next week with that sentence in view.

Weekly targets for different kinds of habit

HabitWeekly targetWhy this number
Floss before bed7 of 7It takes one minute and sits next to brushing
Strength session3 of 7Muscle needs rest days between sessions
Call a relative1 of 7The value is the regular contact, not the count
Write 300 words5 of 7Leaves two flexible days for travel and rest

Where the weekly sheet falls short

Seven columns do not show a long streak, so pair the weekly sheet with a monthly or yearly one if the chain matters to you. Also be careful with the target: a weekly goal of four can quietly become a habit of doing it four times and stopping. When a habit is automatic, raise the target or move it to a daily chain.

Common questions

Does the week start on Monday?
Yes. The sheet uses the international Monday-to-Sunday week. The planning and review ritual falls on Sunday evening, right before the new week begins.
How many weeks does one printout cover?
Each page carries a stack of weeks so that one sheet lasts about a month. Change the month and year above the preview to print the weeks you need.
What if I fall behind on the weekly review?
Skip the missed review and run the next one on time. A late review for last week is less useful than a quick plan for the week that has just started.
